Question? You are driving down the right side of a neighborhood street wide enough for only 2.5 cars. There is a car on the parked left side of the street. There is also a car approaching the parked car coming from the other direction.
Does the car coming from the other direction have to wait behind the parked car in their way until you pass?
Who has the right of way basically? You without the parked car obstructing your travel, or can the other car block your path to get around the parked car?

I’m pretty sure it’s a courtesy thing more than a right of way thing.

Officially: Whoever has to go into the opposing lane has to wait for it to be clear.
Unofficially: Whoever gets there first.

Common sense would say it's the problem of the car coming the other way, since he has to cross the center of the road to go around. A smart, courteous motorist realizes this and let's you go. The other 99% of the population give you the finger after they come within 3 feet of a head on collision because they couldn't slow down for four god damn seconds.

But technically there are no lanes in the scenario I am describing.
I get that being around the parked car first is how it usually happens.

There may not be marked lanes per se, but there are still perceived lanes/sides of the road. You don’t go driving down a two way with your left side tires hugging the curb when there aren’t any painted lines, right?

The car without the obstruction always has the right of way.

The more expensive car has the right of way. Or the bigger one. In other words, I always lose.
